The
Profile

Moving mountains together: Over the course of my more than 35-year career, I have gained insights in a broad range of sectors, thus giving me the experience required to see things from several perspectives. I have worked in

media | global business | politics | the foundation sector

on several continents: in India and Sri Lanka since 1985, and in China, Japan, Singapore, Australia and Malaysia since 1989. Since the 1990s, my work has taken me to North America, and to Sub-Saharan Africa since 2015.

Today, I bring my knowledge, energy, and creativity to the table, contributing my broad expertise to supervisory boards, foundation boards of trustees, universities, and consulting teams. Drawing on 21 years of experience with global corporations such as RWE, ABB, and Bosch, family-owned firms like KRONE, and several years of executive management at the Robert Bosch Foundation, I now help develop strategic solutions, move mountains, promote organizational and content-related change, manage crises, and steer through complex, fast-changing environments.

Uta-Micaela Dürig

The main focus of my work today combines all of my of previous professional experience.  Major projects that demonstrate my conceptual and strategic expertise include:

  • The Bosch Group's global sustainability governance policy
  • Several corporate transformation programs that have enhanced companies' reputations and improved their customer and employee loyalty
  • A newly established learning center for a medium-sized company in Austria,
  • The establishment of shared service centers following fair negotiations with works councils,
  • Award-winning employer campaigns,
  • The Education Sub-Saharan Africa (ESSA) charity
  • Projects and studies for the further development of the health and care sector
  • The German School Portal and School Barometer
  • The German-American-Chinese Media Forum
  • The global Falling Walls Engage science communication platform.

At the interface between business, society, and science, I have been privileged to work with national and international experts. Moreover, social enterprise projects and start-up investments have provided me with an even sharper view of the big picture, especially with regard to digitization and societal challenges.

Perspectives for
companies

In the past 30 years, innovation cycles have become shorter, entirely new competitors have emerged, and disruptions that spark change have become more frequent.

Dubai Dubai

Spanning more than two decades, the time I spent in leading positions at major global companies has provided me with a solid basis with which to advise both corporate groups and medium-sized companies effectively. My experience includes:

  • Working as member of supervisory and family advisory boards
  • Playing a central role in the development of global sustainability structures
  • Steering transformation, change, and integration management processes
  • Driving corporate culture forward and establishing corporate identity
  • Employer branding
  • Crisis management.

Perspectives for
academic institutions

Not only do I enjoy educating the next generation, I also consider it to be part of my social responsibility. This is why I have been involved in education and training at universities and journalism schools since 1996.

Beyond teaching, I have also contributed as well in advisory boards of universities to:

  • The establishment of university institutes
  • Educational projects that companies benefited from directly (e.g. learning centers for companies)
  • The development and implementation of academic studies on both economic and social topics.

Perspectives for
donors and
foundations

The challenges of our time are too big to solve alone. As a former managing director of the Robert Bosch Foundation, I know the challenges that donors face. I contribute my knowledge in

  • foundation boards of trustees
  • the establishment and management of foundations
  • processes of strategic reorientation
  • the development of joint initiatives
  • the design of effective projects.
Delhi

My social engagement:

My personal commitment to social issues has always been governed by the same basic attitude: don't just talk, act. Since 2014, I have been a member of the board of trustees of the Stuttgart charity Caritas, and foundations. And since 1985, I have been involved with a children's home near Colombo in Sri Lanka.
